One person was found dead inside his rented house at a village in West Jaintia Hills district on Thursday morning.

Ashutus Kumar was found lying on the bed with stabbed injuries on his chest, head and knee, police sources said.

Kumar was staying in a rented house at Lad Pasyih under the Phramer traffic cell.

Earlier, the house owner Karbar Tyngkan had informed the police that Kumar was reportedly locked in the house. Tyngkan said Kumar’s relative came and reported that they are under suspicion over his presence inside the house as his mobile phone was switched off.

Accordingly, the Crime Scene Unit (CSU), Shillong was informed.

The body was taken to the Ialong Civil Hospital for conducting PM examination on Friday.
