A non-tribal was killed in a village near Shella in East Khasi Hills District after he was stabbed by miscreants inside his house.

The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

District police chief Claudia A Lyngwa said Uphas Uddin (37) of Pyrkan village was stabbed and cut by unknown persons.

The injured person was removed to Ichamati community health centre (CHC) but was declared brought dead by the attending medical officer (MO), she said.

The SP informed that inquest and other formalities have been conducted over the dead body which will then be shifted to Shillong civil hospital for post mortem.

“During enquiry it has been ascertained that 3 persons entered who knew the exact house, entry door and bed the victim was sleeping, which indicates that this may be the result of business rivalry or personal enmity,” Lyngwa said.

She said further investigation will unearthed the exact reason for the attack on this particular person.
