    SHILLONG: The Court of Special Judge (POCSO), Shillong has sentenced on Sebarin Nongkynrih to 14 years rigorous imprisonment for offence under section 6 of POCSO Act. 

    The order was passed by B Khriam, Special Judge (POCSO), Shillong on September 3, in connection with a case filed with the Rynjah police station. 

    Nongkynrih was also awarded with three years rigorous imprisonment for an offence under section 506 IPC (Part-II) and another three years for an offence under section 201 IPC with fine. 

    Further, the Court has also recommended a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to be paid by the state government to the victim.

    Meanwhile, another accused identified as Bakstarwell Kharshilot was also awarded 3 years imprisonment for an offence punishable under section 8 of POCSO Act, with a fine in connection with a case registered with Mawsynram police station. 

    The victim has been recommended a compensation of Rs 50,000 to be paid by the state government.
