Man sent to 10 yrs jail for raping a minor

SHILLONG: The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO) on Tuesday sentenced one Klan Marbaniang to ten years rigorous imprisonment for committing sexual assault on a minor.

The order was passed by Special Judge (POCSO) of East Khasi Hills District Noor Ain Khan (MHJS), SP (City) SA Rynjah informed.

He said the accused Klan Marbaniang was awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment for the offence committed under section 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012. The case was registered with the Madanrting police station.

Rynjah further informed that the Court has also recommended compensation of Rs 3 lakhs to be paid to the victim by the State government.
