    In a gruesome incident, a 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly beaten his infant son to death.

    The incident happened in Amlanai village, under Elaka Satpator, Amlarem, West Jaintia Hills district in the evening of May 14.

    Wanpyntngen Langshiang reportedly murdered his own toddler son who is just about one-and-a-half year of age, Sub Divisional Police Officer Donkupar Moksha said. 

    He informed that a complaint was lodge at the Muktapur PPP by a villager early on the following day which also cited the father as the culprit. 

    “Witnesses who came forward from the village also deposed before the police that the man had beaten the toddler to death and that the same was found to be under inebriated condition close to the time when the incident occured,” the SDPO said.   

    “Later, the accused also admitted to have physically assaulted the toddler, he said.

    A case was registered under section 302 of IPC at Dawki Police Station and investigation was taken up to bring the accused to book. 

    Meanwhile, the dead body of the toddler was kept at the Ialong Civil Hospital for the conduct of post mortem examination and the completion of necessary formalities.
