Man gets life imprisonment under POCSO in EKH

The court of R Rymbai, Special Judge (POCSO) East Khasi Hills has convicted and sentenced one Lovingstar Binan to life imprisonment for committing henious crimes against a minor.

The judgment passed by the court said the convict has been sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and Section 377 of the IPC, with a fine of Rs 10,000 each. In default of payment, he will undergo additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.

The convict has also been sentenced to five years of imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000 under Section 506 of the IPC, and six months of imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1,000 under Section 323 of the IPC.

The case was investigated by WPSI Shidarisha Kharsati, who is presently posted in Lumdiengjri police station.
