Man from Barato village gets life term for 2009 murder case

The Court of District and Sessions Judge, West Jaintia Hills, N.A. Khan, has convicted Weslyborn Pala, alias Nana Pala, of Barato village under Section 302 of the IPC for murder.
The case dates back to August 2009, when Eragina Timung, daughter of the deceased, lodged an FIR at Nartiang Police Investigating Centre. She reported that on the night of August 6, 2009, around 8 PM, the accused killed Bransely Suiai by chopping him with a dao, leading to his death on the spot.
The case was registered as Jowai P.S. Case No. 111(8)09 under Section 302 IPC and investigated by SI W. Vaichei, who later filed the chargesheet.
After conclusion of trial, the Court on 25.08.2025 sentenced Weslyborn Pala to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5,000.
