Man arrested with airguns in Shillong

The state police has arrested one Meban Snaitang, who allegedly posed as a Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) staff member and an officer of a private company, duping people with false job promises.
Snaitang, who was accompanied by men wearing black outfits, was detained near the Secretariat on Friday evening after police received public complaints.
Five nitro air guns, along with black uniforms and several walkie-talkies were also seized from his three vehicles: an Audi, a Bolero Mahindra, and an Innova Toyota.
The air guns were found in the vehicles, sparking suspicion that they might be used to intimidate people.
“Snaitang allegedly impersonated an MPSC staff member and company officer, swindling people with false job promises,” a senior police officer stated.
Before being taken into custody, Snaitang told reporters that the seized items were air guns and questioned the government’s authority to seize them, stating, “These are air guns. Is there a rule for the government of Meghalaya to seize the air gun?”
