Man arrested in Ri Bhoi District for possession of country made revolver

One 46 year old man was arrested for threatening to shoot two persons with his country made revolver in Ri Bhoi District on Monday.

According to police, the man was identified as Melan Syngkli of Umkhawai village under Jirang C&RD Block of Ri-Bhoi District.

Police informed that Tarmal Mawthoh a resident of Umkhawai, Jirang lodged a complaint that on Monday @ 11:00 to 12:00 Pm, Melan Syngkli came to the house of Suntosh Marbaniang at Umkhawai Village and he threatened to shoot Balwan Mawthoh by showing one pistol.

Police also said that Syngkli also threatened to shoot Santosh Marbaniang and his mother in law Twilen Mawthoh by showing the country made pistol if they informed the matter to police.

Police informed an inquiry was immediately conducted and arrested Melan Syngkli and from his possession seized 1 (one) unlicensed country made pistol with 4(four) live ammunitions.

Police informed a case vide Patharkhmah Police Station Case No. 02(11)2024 u/s 333/351(3) BNS r/ w Sec 25(1A) (1AA)(1B)(a) Arms Act has been registered and investigation is underway.
