Man arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl in West Jaintia Hills

31-year-old Enrysing Marbaniang from Mairang was arrested for sexually and physically assaulting a school girl in West Jaintia Hills District.

Condemning the incident, the Rongmei Phwan (Society) Shillong (RPS) in a statement issued on Saturday said that while the minor was alone at her home on June 15, the accused forcibly entered the house and sexually and physically assaulted her.

The girl sustained a fractured orbit on the left eye besides injuries to her eye, neck, abdomen.

The RPS said that the girl was immediately taken to Civil Hospital, Jowai for immediate medical attention from where she was referred to NEIGRIHMS for better care.

Demanding stern action against the perpetrator, the RPS said, “On the face of gruesome act, the accused deserves to be punished with the harshest possible punishment as per law of the land as it brought social disorder and shame to the society, and even concerned in the society.”

“The Society while denouncing the accused inhumane act, it is highly appreciated the police officials, personnel and its machineries of the concerned for the swift intervention and speedy arrest of the perpetrator within no time,” it said while appealing for speedy justice to the victim and to check against the accused attempt to subdue the justice deliverance.

The Society reposed its faith on the police machinery in administering justice to the victim and to check against anti-social elements which deprecate human value.
