The executive committee of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) on Monday said that it has not appointed Tonu Dey (Gaurav) as the financial adviser of the Council.

“We do not even recognize this person (Tonu), who had claimed of holding the post of financial adviser (for not only JHADC but KHADC as well),” EM in-charge Trade Winning G Sungoh told reporters here.

He said on contacted, Tonu claimed that he had helped the JHADC relating to financial matters of the council and the central government. According to Sungoh, Tonu was appointed by the previous EC and not the present one.

The two ADCs have been criticized for appointing a non-indigenous person as its financial adviser.

Meanwhile, Sungoh informed that Tonu has also tendered an apology letter to the JHADC chief Thombor Shiwat for misusing by printing the name of the Council on his visiting card.

“As verbally instructed by you, the undersigned surrendered all my visiting cards which I was using in the year 2018 for official work of the Council in Delhi for following up the JHADC proposals, projects etc. Apology for the inconvenience,” Tony said in his letter to the CEM.

When asked, the EM however said that the EC will soon sit to decide on the action to be taken with regards to the alleged misused of the council’s name.
