    In an effort to reach to people living in other districts of Meghalaya, the Society for Promotion of Eye Care & Sight (SPECS) in collaboration with Operation Eye Sight Universal (OEU) and Bansara Eye Care Centre (BECC) launched a new Vision Centre at Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya, on Monday.

    The inauguration of the Bansara Eye Care Nongpoh Vision Centre was held in the presence of RB Suting (Locality Head, Nongpoh), Silvester Mynsong (Nongpoh Headman), M Khardunai (Secretary Nongpoh), Ronald Ranee (President, Nongpoh Youth Group), Emmanuel Benai Tanti (Program officer, Operation Eyesight Universal) & staff from Bansara Eye Care.

    In her welcome speech, Roshna G. Basaiawmoit (Head of Projects & General Administration) said that this is their 11th Vision centre in Meghalaya and the first Vision centre of Bansara Eye Care Centre launched in Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya.
    International donor Gulu Thadani Charitable Foundation for providing us support through our Project partner Operation Eyesight Universal (OEU) for setting up this new Vision Centre, she informed.

    Emmanuel Benai Tanti said “Operation Eyesight Universal has been working with many organizations in the field of eye care and Bansara Eye Care Centre is one of them in Northeast India. We recently launched a Vision Centre at Mairang, West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, and the purpose behind us doing so is to provide primary eye care service to the underserved population as well as reach out to the community and spread awareness on the importance of eye care in Nongpoh and its adjoining areas in collaboration with Bansara Eye Care Centre”.

    The Vision Centre was then inaugurated by Mr. M. Khardunai and the inauguration of an acknowledgment board of the donor was performed by Mr. Emmanuel Benai Tanti.

    Aaron Basaiawmoit (Chief Executive Officer) informed this is the second Vision Centre in the state which is equipped with retinal and fundus camera capable of performing retinal diagnostics”.
