    East Jaintia Hills Police arrested two persons in a massive drug bust near BMS Fuel Station Nongsning, resulting in the seizure of 2.738 kg of heroin worth approximately Rs 15 crore in the international illicit market on Monday.

    Acting on credible information, the police intercepted a Tata Winger with registration number NL 07T 0815, suspecting it to be transporting illegal contraband.

    The ANTF team and Ladrymbai Police Station staff set up a naka near BMS Fuel Station Nongsning, leading to the detention of the vehicle at around 6:15 pm. A thorough search, conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, uncovered 200 soap cases containing a yellowish-orange powder hidden in various compartments. Subsequent preliminary tests confirmed the powder to be heroin.

    The total gross weight of the seized heroin was determined to be 2.738 kg. The police have registered a case at Khliehriat Police Station and actively investigating to trace both the backward and forward linkages associated with the smuggling operation.

    The two have been identified as M. Tuanbiaklian Guite, a 32-year-old from Churachandpur, Manipur, and Imliakum Longkumer, a 40-year-old from Dimapur, Nagaland. Additionally, police confiscated two mobile phones, Rs. 2500 in cash, and the Tata Winger (NL 07T 0815) used for the transportation of the contraband.
