The headman of Lumdaitkhla Bhoirymbong ST Rympei on Monday asked the STIEH president Purity Phawa to tender an apology for making public his conversation with her about the government’s decision to conclude the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival on a Sunday.

Speaking to reporters, Rympei said that Phawa had decided to share the call recording in social media platforms without his consent and thereby violating his right to privacy.

The state government had decided to organize the three-day Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival at Madan Kurkalang in Lumdaikhla Bhoirymbong village.

The festival is scheduled to commence from November 17 and will conclude on November 19, which happens to be a Sunday.

Rympei demanded Phawa to immediately tender an apology within 24 hours. “Failing to comply with the demand, I will be compelled to take legal action (against her),” he said.
