NPP leader and cabinet minister Marcuise N Marak on Wednesday expressed confidence that the party will win both Shillong and Tura parliamentary constituencies.

Speaking to reporters, Marak said sitting Tura MP Agatha K Sangma will definitely retain the seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

“In Shillong also, we are hopeful of winning. We are appealing to people of Khasi Jaintia Hills also that they should go with NPP as NPP has tried its level best under the leadership of Conrad K Sangma. You must have seen that the state has been transformed now so we are hopeful to get the support of the people of our state,” he said.

“If we have two MPs in Delhi, to get the clearance of all these centrally sponsored schemes, it will be very easy for us to push for the projects,” Marak added.

Asked on the allegations made by BJP, the NPP leader said, “You can go to Garo Hills and move around and find out what Agatha has done. Lots of things Agatha has done. So many school buildings she has funded from MPLADS and even centrally sponsored scheme fundings also she was behind us in every project getting sanctioned in Delhi.”

“Allegations from Congress, definitely they will make this type of allegation. You ask from us where she was, she was very much with us, she was present in every programme so Congress will definitely make such allegations,” he said.

Meanwhile, Marak said that the NPP is taking all opponents seriously whether they are big or small parties.
