  • LP teachers demand release of pending salary

    SHILLONG: The All Primary School Teachers’ Association (APSTA) has demanded the state government to immediately release the three-month pending salary of the lower primary school teachers in the state. 

    In a statement issued here on Saturday, assistant general secretary of the association L Tiewsoh said, “The association has reiterated its demand for releasing the sanction of shortfall amount for payment of salary of June, July and August, 2018 in the revision of pay to the lower primary school teachers under the jurisdiction of the SDSEO, Shillong amounting to Rs 5.88 crore.” 

    She informed that a delegation led by the general secretary FC Shullai had earlier met the Director of School Education & Literacy requesting for his intervention to release the pending dues of the teachers. 

    Following this, a sanction order was passed and signed by the deputy director of DSEL on June 18, and the same was already received by the office of Sub-Division School Education Officer (SDSEO), Shillong on June 24, Tiewsoh said. 

    She further said that the association has decided to meet the SDSEO, Shillong on July to ensure that the pending dues of the lower primary school teachers is released at the earliest possible.
