Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) Guwahati, has introduced another well-equipped bullet-resistant Mahindra Marksman on Saturday.

LGBIA is the first airport in the Northeast to introduce the Mahindra Marksman, the bulletproof vehicle made by the Mahindra Group’s defence systems and military vehicles arm.

With this, two Mahindra Marksman have joined the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) Quick Reaction Team’s (QRT) fleet at the airport.

The vehicle, which can seat six people, is an armoured capsule-based light bulletproof vehicle that is aimed at safeguarding people of paramilitary, police, and defence forces against not only small arms fire but also grenade attacks

It will strengthen the Aviation Security Group (CISF) to deliver the responsibility of safeguarding the aerodrome more efficiently than ever before.

The previous vehicle being the first in the entire Northeast was introduced at the airport on January 4, 2023.

The vehicle is well equipped to counteract any attempt of sabotage or attack.

Handing over the key of the Vehicle to the CISF personnel at the airport, Chief Airport Officer (CAO) Utpal Baruah said: “Creating a secured environment for the airport, its property, resources and its personnel is one of our basic responsibilities as Airport Operator. We wish to comply with each requirement of ASG as mandated by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.”

“We introduced the first QRT vehicle last year and another one today. It will keep the team well equipped with high morale,” he added.
