Legal awareness program held at Dagal A.pal

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Garo Hills, with its motto “Access to Justice for All” organized a one-day Legal Awareness Program at Dagal A.pal village under Songsak C&RD Block on 17 February, 2021 where a large number of villagers, the Nokmas and Sardars, officials from the line departments, etc. participated.

During the program, the District and Sessions Judge and the Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), M Skhemlon, talked at length about the Legal Services Authority.

The resource person from the Police Department, the OC of Songsak, dwelling on the topic, “Police Outreach” spoke at length about filing of the First Information Report (FIR) by the villagers in their respective police stations.

The APO and Mukhya Sevika of Songsak Block, Sallangfield Marak and MD Shira highlighted about the schemes being implemented by the block while the Legal-cum-Probation Officer of the District Child Protection Unit, HGR Marak, deliberated on POCSO Act, 2012 and Jackie Rikchie K Marak, Forest Guard, spoke about the Meghalaya Forest Regulation Act, 1973.
