Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui on Tuesday said the law will take its own course of action against the perpetrators involved in the killing of an 80-year-old man on the allegation of practicing witchcraft.

Condemning the incident,  Rymbui said some people have already been arrested and that a charge sheet would soon be filed after the process of investigation is completed

“I condemn this act of lynching and superstitious. I also sympathise with the family of the person who died in this circumstance,” he said.

The home minister also urged the people to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and rather report to the authority concerned if there is anything suspicious.

Eight persons have been arrested for their involvement in the killing of Boris Marngar, who was buried alive at Nongdisong village in West Khasi Hills district on October 7.
