Laban Bengalee Boys’, St. Anthony’s and St. Edmund’s HSS shine in MBOSE HSSLC results

The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) has declared the results of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examination 2025 for the Science, Commerce, and Arts streams on Monday.
Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong topped the Science stream, while St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong led in Commerce. St. Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong claimed the top two spots in the Arts stream, making it a dominant year for these institutions in terms of academic excellence.
A standout moment in the Science stream came from North Liberty Higher Secondary School, located in Mookyrdoop-Jowai in West Jaintia Hills, outside the capital city. The school made a significant impact by placing two students in the top ten. Reesa Ee Christine Suting shared the fifth position with 461 marks, and Rilanaika Sari shared the ninth position with 452 marks. Their achievement is seen as a milestone not only for their school but for the district as well, highlighting the growing academic strength of schools beyond Shillong.
In the Science stream, Saptarshi Bhattacharjee of Laban Bengalee Boys’ HSS secured the top position with 483 marks, followed by Drishana Roychoudhury of St. Anthony’s HSS, Shillong in second place with 477 marks, and Shweta Sarma, also of St. Anthony’s, in third with 473 marks. The strong performance of North Liberty HSS adds diversity to the merit list, traditionally dominated by Shillong-based institutions.
In Commerce, Disha Chokhani of St. Anthony’s HSS, Shillong topped the stream with 481 marks. She was followed by Nishan Talukdar from Laban Bengalee Boys’ HSS with 476 marks, while another Laban student, Dipankar Barua, secured third with 468 marks.
The Arts stream saw a tie for the top position between Albert Mate and Idawanplishisha Swer, both from St. Edmund’s HSS, Shillong, with 455 marks each. Nelly Mary Khymdeit of St. Paul’s HSS, Nongpoh came second with 451 marks, while Safilia Wahlang of St. Anthony’s HSS, Shillong took the third spot with 450 marks.
As per the official result abstract, 3,922 candidates appeared in the Science stream, with 3,253 passing—an overall pass percentage of 82.94.
In the Arts stream, 22,835 appeared and 18,736 passed, yielding a pass percentage of 82.05.
In Commerce, out of 2,501 students who appeared, 2,033 passed, registering an overall pass rate of 81.28.
The results of the Vocational Stream were also declared, with 17 students achieving a pass percentage of 85%.
Across all three streams, female candidates outshone their male counterparts. In Science, girls achieved a pass percentage of 85.94 compared to 83.13 among boys.
In Arts, the figures stood at 89.37 percent for girls and 84.17 for boys, while Commerce showed 86.61 percent for girls and 83.62 for boys.
