  • KSU seeks action against information leakage of MTET candidates

    The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has demanded the state government to take action against the culprits involved in leaking personal information of candidates who had recently appeared for the Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test (MTET) examination.

    In a memorandum to the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Saturday, Chairman of the KSU Education Cell Raymond Kharjana said, “…the Union through this missive seeks clarification and demands for swift action to be taken on the matter for smooth declaration of the above mentioned examination results in coming days and also to ensure that the Right to Privacy of the candidates is not compromised and furthermore stringent action to be taken against culprits find being involved.”

    Kharjana said it has come to the notice of the Union that numerous candidates who had appeared for the MTET examination, received telephone call from anonymous Cellular numbers claiming to be employee of the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), Meghalaya,  demanding from them capital or kinds of equivalent monetary value  for clearing the examination.

    “As a  union working for the well-being of the Khasi community in all spheres of live, we are completely taken aback of the fact as to how  third parties acquired personal information of the candidates which is maintained and access solely  by the concern authority of the state education department,” he stated.
