    The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Saturday elected its new central executive committee for the term 2023-2026.

    KSU chief Lambok Starwell Marngar along with vice president Biangbor Paliar and general secretary Donald V Thabah were elected unopposed during the election held at the Dinam Hall, Jaiaw here.

    The other newly elected members of the Union include Ruben Najiar as assistant general secretary, Raymond Kharjana – organizing secretary, Pynkmenlang Sanmiet – education secretary, Pynshaiborlang Rani – information and publicity secretary, Spaindonsing Lyngkhoi – office secretary, Eric A Nongkynrih – sports and cultural secretary and Shiningstar Kharbihkhiew – environment secretary.

    Speaking to media persons, Marngar expressed gratitude to all the volunteers and members from various units and circles for taking part and making the election of the CEC successful.

    Marngar informed that in the coming days the CEC will hold its first meeting where more members will be inducted in it.

    While condemning the killing of one Roning Nongkynrih from Laitlyngkot by the Border Security Force (BSF), Marngar urged the newly elected member to strengthen the union, so as to work tirelessly for the welfare of the people of the state.

    Meanwhile former KSU vice president Danny Khyriem informed that there were a total number 33 candidates who had contested in the 15th election of the KSU CEC and out of total 33 candidates, three candidates were elected unopposed to the top post of the student’s body.
