The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Friday has demanded immediate reopening of the North East Institute of Ayurveda & Homeopathy (NEIAH) at Mawdiangdiang.

In a letter seeking the intervention of the Director, NEIAH, KSU Mawkasiang Unit president June Jimmy Nongdhar said numerous grievances from the general public have been received due to the abrupt discontinuation of medical services provided by institute since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said this has left many people especially patients who prefer and rely on ayurvedic, herbal and homeopathic medication in a fix with no alternative means to obtain treatment.

“Therefore, the KSU appeals to your office to kindly facilitate the resumption of medical services for both in and out patients,” Nongdhar wrote in the letter.

According to him, reopening of NEIAH will immensely benefit the citizens of the state as a whole and the patients in particular.
