A delegation of Khasi Students Union (KSU) Mawkyrwat Circle met the District Medical & Health Officer (DMHO) South West Khasi Hills District on Thursday to seek clarity on 16 posts out of 40 posts missing from the Advertisement published by the District Medical & Health Officer pertaining to the recruitment at the 10 Bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Mawkyrwat.

The delegation was led by Rutherford Lyngdoh (President KSU Mawkyrwat Circle) and Plosborlin Kharjahrin (General Secretary KSU Mawkyrwat Circle) accompanied by leaders from the KSU South West Khasi Hills District

As per the letter from Dr. Joram Beda (IAS), Commissioner & Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department dated 5th February 2024 to the Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman District Ayush Society South West Khasi Hills District, it was found that there was a recruitment to 40 posts at the 10 Bedded AYUSH Hospital.

However, the Advertisement published on 23rd February 2024, the union found that the office of the DMHO of South West Khasi Hills District published only 24 posts and 16 posts were missing from the said advert.

The 16 posts that were missing were Office Assistant cum DEO, Ward Boy, Ward girl, Sweeper, Cook, Chowkidar, Peon, Jamadars and the number of vacancies is 2 each.

The DMHO Advertisement published on 23rd February showed the vacancies in Medical Officer (Homeopathy), Medical Officer (Ayurveda) – 2 posts each, one vacancy for nursing in-charge, 4 vacancies for nursing staff, 3 vacancies for midwife, 2 vacancies for each for Panchakarma (Tech) Male, Pancharkarma (Tech) Female, Yoga Instructor, Lab technician, Pharmacist, and Dispenser.

The union suspects nepotism and favouritism to be the reason behind the disappearance of the posts and expressed their concern on the surreptitious activity in the Health Department.

The union has urged the DMHO to release the other 16 posts so that the unemployed youth can apply the posts.

The union also requested the DC South West Khasi Hills District to intervene and direct the office to publish the remaining posts.
