KSU asks Longkmie Gas Agency to ensure 12 LPG cylinders is distributed for each household annually

The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Thursday has asked the Longkmie Gas Agency, Shillong to provide a minimum of 12 LGP cylinders to consumers annually and to ensure there is no illegal transaction of LPG cylinders.
In a letter to the manager of the gas agency, KSU Laban Circle president Reuben Najiar said the union expressed its resentment over the inadequate LPG cylinders distribution in and around the Laban area which has caused great inconvenience to the public at large.
He said it has also come to the notice of the Union that the gas agency distributes only ten LPG cylinders annually.
However, LPG cylinders to be distributed in each and every household annually must be 12 as a minimum criterion or more if there is ample supply but nothing less than 12 LPG cylinders annually.
Also referring to the inspection conducted by the union on May 13 to the various food stalls and restaurants in the Laban area, Najiar said that it was found that many of these food outlets were using domestic LPG cylinders instead of commercial LPG cylinders. “On further questioning, the supply can be chained to your agency,” he said while strongly urging that such kind of malpractice must be avoided to see that there is no shortage of supply to the households.
“Thus, the Union would humbly like to urge that the agency must be able to provide a minimum of 12 (twelve) LPG cylinders annually and also see to it that there is no illegal transaction of LPG cylinders,” Najiar further demanded.
