  • KSU apprehends 28 illegal migrant workers at Kynshi

    The Khasi Students Union (KSU) Kynshi Circle has apprehended over 28 illegal migrant labourers at Kynshi village in West Khasi Hills district.

    Its president Wankular Samkmie informed that the most of the apprehended migrant workers are from Assam and Uttar Pradesh (UP).

    “They were found entering the village illegally without any valid documents which include work permit,” he said in a statement issued on Sunday.

    Samkmie also informed that on enquired, these migrant labourers replied that they were able to come to the village after passing through the various check gates without any checking.

    It was also further revealed that these migrant workers were proposed to be engaged for black topping of a road to Rongjeng by the CCL International Limited as informed by its manager Jay Kishore.

    Later, the Union handed over all the migrant labourers to the Mairang police for necessary action as per law.

    On the other hand, the KSU West Khasi Hills district has condemned the failure of the state government to check unregulated entry of people from outside at a time when the state is battling against COVID-19 pandemic.
