The Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP) on Friday expressed confidence in the district administration and the dorbar shnong of Mawsynram and said their decision in regards to the Mawjymbuin cave will define its next course of action.

This was stated by the KSP president Satya Ranjan Borah after attending a meeting convened by the East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner RM Kurbah in the presence of traditional heads from the dorbar shnong of Mawsynram.

Announcing that the Mawjymbuin case is over, Borah said, “I think till date Mawjymbuin case is over and we will see what is going to happen and they have issued orders and we believe on that.”

“We believe in the leadership of Meghalaya’s district administration and we will wait and watch in the next coming days and that will define our next course of action,” he told reporters.

Borah said that the delegation of KSP has been informed during the meeting that there was no ban imposed by the Mawsynram dorbar shnong.

“Everyone is allowed. There was no ban. Anyone can go there 365 days from 9am to 5pm onwards but they have to maintain some standard operating procedures (SOPs). There are some SOPs and we do accept those SOPs…” he informed while adding that the delegation were also assured of some special arrangements.

“So no ban on our worshipping there. Worshipping means what worshipping means we sit there and say our prayers and that can be done anytime anywhere,” the KSP president claimed.

Denying issuing any threat, Borah said, “There is no threatening from Hindu groups. People are misintepreting the things. Yes, we say about the blocking of roads if the ban is not withdrawn but they say there is no ban.”

Asked, he said, “I cannot now say anything because the administration and the dorbar shnong already confirmed that there is no ban and they will keep it open for 365 days from 9 am to 5 pm. We have faith in them. So we will see what they do and then decide on our next course of action.”

“It depends upon the people. It is the behaviour of the public. It is our simple message to all people belongs to Meghalaya, Assam and also being citizens of India – we all are citizens of India and we have fundamental duties for the sake of the nation. Our every activity should be for the strengthening national integrity and social harmony,” Borah added.

Further, the KSP president urged all concerns to respect the constitution of India.

“I request every one, who is from Meghalaya, Assam and anywhere in India – everyone should respect the constitution of India, everyone should value the constitution of India and I think once we do our fundamental duties as prescribed in Article 51 (a) of the Constitution of India, there should not be any hastle in the coming days,” he stated.
