KHNAM expresses dissatisfaction over govt’s failure to extend decision of discontinuation to Group B & C posts

SHILLONG, JUL 10: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has expressed partial satisfaction on the government’s discontinuation of personal interviews for Group-D posts in the state after the same was not extended to Group B and Group C posts.
“Today after persisting demands to do away with personal interview for recruitment in Govt jobs in the State for Gp B, Gp C and Gp D, the State Cabinet has approved discontinuation of personal interview for Group D Post. All though we are partially satisfied with the decision, we would like to express our grievances and dissatisfaction since the decision taken was only for the Group D Post. We have written several memorandums to the Government for discontinuation of personal interview from all the three groups,” KHNAM working president Thomas Passah said in a statement.

He said since 2016, the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Govt of India has kickstart this important reform across the Country to achieve a goal of clean and transparent recruitment in government jobs, 23 States and 8 Union Territories of India has joined the reforms, however Meghalaya has been one of the few States in the country who is still persisting with personal interview.
“We have written to the Government and we had conducted several sit-in demonstrations to achieve our demands. At the least, we were expecting that the Government of Meghalaya would consider abolishing personal interview for Group C and Group D Post,” Passah stated.

He alleged that the State government has not followed the GoI Guidelines issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pension, since the guidelines were not restricted only to Group D.
“However, we would write to the State Government and the Ministry of Personnel on the subject, to ensure that we achieve as complete transparency in job recruitment in the State of Meghalaya,” Passah stated further.
