A book entitled “Aiu ngin leh ha jingim ba tang shisien?” written by Daniel Stone Lyngdoh was launched at Rajai Village, Bangladesh on March 15, 2024 at the premises of the house of late Wickliffe Syiem a Deputy Chief (Syiem Khynnah) of Hima Nongstoin.

The book was released by the eldest son of late Wickliffe Syiem, Andrew Joel Sohlamar in the presence of Khasi residents in Bangladesh along with Relimai Sohlamar, the 93 years old wife of late Wickliffe Syiem. Sohlamar lives in Rajai which falls under Sylhet Division and is the eldest son of Paiem Wickliffe with four brothers and three sisters.

Speaking as the chief guest, Andrew Joel Sohlamar said, “The book speaks four important parts about religion, nationalism, patriotism and tribe which forms parts in the life of every individual in his daily life.”

Andrew is also the organising secretary of Bangladesh Indigenous People’s Forum (BIPF).

The book “Aiu ngin leh ha jingim ba tang shisien?” contains 8 chapters. Lyngdoh the author of the book highlighted, “To write this book is a calling. This book is a call to individuals to understand the questions in our hearts which are available in this book and the response is included in the chapters of this book.”

He added, “This book will throw light about the basic aim in our life especially for the youth and future generations.”

Lyngdoh, who also authored the book on Phan Nonglait, a female freedom fighter, informed that the money generated from the sale of the book will be donated to the poor students.

There are more than 30,000 Khasis residing in Bangladesh.

For Lyngdoh, releasing the book in Bangladesh was a symbol of support and encouragement to the Khasi families in Bangladesh.
