    Within 24 hours after two thatched huts belonging to residents of Khanduli village, Karbi citizens set on fire another thatched hut while residents of Khanduli still issue a clarion call for reconciliation to the Karbi community.

    Two huts in paddy fields were set on fire by eight Karbi in a paddy field within Khanduli on Thursday afternoon followed by the assault of one Karbi by residents of Khanduli who went to rescue one of their own who was threatened by the Karbi. The incident took an ugly turn with the pelting of stones by Karbi on a private vehicle travelled by C Syrti the SP of West Jaintia Hills District.

    The third hut was set ablaze by Karbi at a paddy field near the Assam Police camp in Khanduli on Friday afternoon.

    The residents of Khanduli were furious over the incident and make up their mind to head to area where the third hut was set ablaze. But they were put to rest by the DC West Jaintia Hills and Meghalaya police to avoid any further clash.

    Earlier before the incident, the public meeting convened by Dorbar Shnong Khanduli on Friday morning took a firm stand to restrict movement of Karbi to Khanduli and withdraw all business dealing with Karbi until they agreed to reconcile with Khanduli. The meeting was addressed by headmen of Namdong B, Saitsama, Umshangiar, Umplu and Lapangap who all plead to keep all business dealing with Karbi on abeyance.
