The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Friday re-constituted the Select Committee to examine the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Khasi Inheritance of Property) Bill, 2021.

The Select Committee will be headed by KHADC chief Shemborlang Rynjah as the chairman and secretary to the Legislative Wing as member secretary.

The other members of the committee include Deity Majaw, Denzil R Chen and Grace Mary Kharpuri.

Earlier while tabling the report on the matter, Rynjah said the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (Khasi Inheritance of Property) Bill, 2021 was referred to the Select Committee to examine and consider the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Khasi Inheritance of Property) Bill, 2021 which was then reconstituted on July 3, 2023 with Pyniaid Sing Syiem, the then Chief Executive Member (CEM) as the Chairman along with other members.

However, the term of the Select Committee has expired without submitting a report and the Executive Committee hereby suggest before the House to reconstitute the new members of the Select Committee.

Therefore, the matter is placed before the House for consideration and its decision, he added.
