SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has approved the proposal for enhancing the patta fee to Rs 200.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting of the executive committee held here on Friday, EM in-charge Land Titosstarwell Chyne said for the past many years, the patta fee remained the same at Rs 10.

“Therefore we have decided to enhance it to Rs 200,” he said while informing that the Council has also decided to improve the functioning of the land department.

Referring to the recent incident at Balakhawa in Ri Bhoi District, Chyne said the Council will issue instruction to all the traditional heads not to issue NOC with the approval of the KHADC.

The KHADC has also decided to hold the third Monolith Festival this year. However, the date and venue for the festival will be decided later.

The EC also approved the proposal for computerization of all the departments of the Council.
