Karateka Kynjailin bags bronze, keeps Meghalaya’s flag flying high

Young karateka Kynjailin Lyngdoh Mawnai has made Meghalaya proud by clinching a bronze medal at the 9th South Asian Karate Championship 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Her spirited performance in the Women’s U-21 Individual Kumite -50kg category earned her a spot on the podium and added another feather to the state’s sporting achievements.
Representing the All-Meghalaya Karate Do Association (AMKA), Kynjailin battled through tough competition in a highly challenging field to secure the bronze. Her determined effort and fighting spirit stood out as she overcame skilled opponents from across South Asia.
The AMKA, through its Secretary Ksan Kupar Warjri, expressed immense pride in her accomplishment. “Although Kynjailin couldn’t reach the gold, her perseverance and grit in a very demanding championship led her to this remarkable result. We are confident that with continued hard work, she will rise even higher in the future,” Warjri said.
This achievement reflects AMKA’s long-standing tradition of nurturing exceptional karatekas from its training centres and highlights the growing presence of Meghalaya athletes on the international stage.
