    Peeved over the frequent infringement by the Karbi people and the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) to their territory in one way or the other, the people of Khanduli Village, West Jaintia Hills District destroyed the signboard put up by the KAAC in their territory in presence of district administrators and police of both West Jaintia Hills District and West Karbi Anglong District on Monday’s evening.

    The signboard bore the wording Khanduli Entry Tax Gate was put up by KAAC in a location still within the territory of Khanduli village.

    West Jaintia Hills District ADM Mark A Challam and Meghalaya police led by DSP AJ Sangma took up the opposition of the Khanduli people against the signboard with the Magistrate and police from West Karbi Anglong District in presence of Waheh Chnong of Khanduli and others as well as Karbi leaders.

    After getting no information the progress of talks, the people of Khanduli in large numbers rushed to the location of the meeting and destroyed the signboard.
