Jaintia Students Union (JSU) Central Body General Secretary Treibor R Suchen warned of retaliation if the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) goes ahead with its decision of erecting a statue of the Assam Forest Guard at Lumpalang Mukroh, who was killed in 22/11 incident.

Suchen said while chairing a candlelight vigil in Lad College, Jowai recently.

Continuing with their opposition to the erection of statue decided by the KAAC, the JSU Central Body took up the matter with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma during his official visit to Jowai on Saturday.

Suchen accompanied by JSU Central Body President Jersom Shylla urged the Chief Minister to stop any move of erection of statue by KAAC in Mukroh failing which they will resort to path of agitation.

Sangma promptly assured the JSU leaders that the Govt at all cost will not allow the KAAC to erect a statue in Mukroh which is a village within the jurisdiction of Meghalaya.

Shylla and Suchen demanded the Chief Minister to conduct a joint inspection with the JHADC and the stakeholders for determining the zero line areas between Mukroh and Moikoilum for establishing the Border Outpost in Mukroh.

The Chief Minister agreed to the demand put forward by the JSU leaders and informed them necessary direction will be issue for joint inspection prior the setting up of the Border Outpost.
