JSU stages protest infront of DC’s office, demands deployment of adequate police forces at Lapangap

Activists of the Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) on Wednesday staged a protest in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, demanding the immediate deployment of adequate police forces at Lapangap village.
According to JSU General Secretary Neikee Mukhim, the protest was held to ensure the safety and security of the people of Lapangap village.
He said the JSU had previously met with the deputy chief minister in-charge home (police) Prestone Tynsong and the Director General of Police (DGP) on June 26, urging them to deploy adequate forces for the safety and security of the villagers.
During the protest, the JSU submitted an ultimatum to the Deputy Commissioner, requesting the deployment of SF-10 forces at Lapangap.

“The Deputy Commissioner assured the JSU that he would write to the government to deploy special forces in the village and ensure the safety and security of the villagers, particularly during the sowing season,” Mukhim said.
The Deputy Commissioner also requested the JSU to be part of the peace committee to resolve the issue and ensure peace and tranquillity in the area.
