    As part of the Celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and 50 years of Statehood of Meghalaya, Inter School Quiz Competition was held at Ladthadlaboh Jowai on Wednesday. The programme was organised by the District School Education Officer, Jowai in collaboration with the office of the Planning officer, Jowai.

    Government Boys Higher Secondary School represented by Somanroy Myrchiang and Graceful Mary Phawa bagged the first prize, while Government Girls Higher Secondary School represented Safety Care Pohleng and Peruse Ryngkhlem and North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Jowai represented by Ribait Phawa and Sneinbha Suchiang bagged the Second and Third prizes respectively. The Winners were awarded with a trophy and certificates.

    The competition was conducted by Quiz Master RS Teron, Block Mission Coordinator (BMC).

    Total of seven schools participated in the competition includes North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Thomas Jones Higher Secondary School, Kiang Nangbah Higher Secondary School, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Government Boys Higher Secondary School. KJP Synod Mihngi Higher Secondary School and Q.C Springside Higher Secondary School.

    Earlier, AP Syiem, District School Education Officer and AC Roy, Assistant District Adult Education Officer, Jowai briefed on the purpose of the event and explained the meaning of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav 75 years of India’s glorious Independence.

    The programme was chaired by C Lyngdoh, Sub- Inspector of School Jowai.
