On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, the Jowai Civil Hospital Blood Bank took the opportunity to honour and recognize the selfless voluntary blood donors in a special event held in the Conference Room of the Centre on Monday.

This program was organized by the Blood Centre of Jowai Civil Hospital in collaboration with the State Blood Transfusion Council and the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society.

Dr. P. Shylla, Incharge Jowai Blood Bank Centre, opened the event with an introductory speech where she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the blood donors for their unwavering support and invaluable service to the Blood Bank Centre. She emphasized the vital importance of blood donation in saving lives and maintaining a steady supply of blood for those in need.

Jowai Dolloi Puramon Kynjing, another prominent figure at the event, highlighted the critical significance of timely access to blood. He pointed out that even with considerable wealth, it becomes meaningless without the availability of this life-saving resource. Supporting individuals in need of blood is a priceless gift that each one of us can contribute to society.

During the event, the youth from the Presbyterian church and Sookpoh Khadar Wyrnai donated blood. Their participation exemplified the spirit of selflessness and community service.

Dr. P Paswet, the Medical Superintendent of Jowai Civil Hospital, also graced the occasion with his presence, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation and ensuring the well-being of the community.
