The Court of Smti. P. Syngkon, Special Judge (POCSO), West Jaintia Hills District, has convicted and sentenced Passti Latam (20) to 23 years of Rigorous Imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 51,000 for offences under Section 5(g)/6 of the POCSO Act and Section 448 IPC.

The case arose from an FIR lodged in April 2021, which reported that the accused had unlawfully entered a house in a village in March 2021 and sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl after chasing out the children present.

The matter was registered as Jowai P.S. Case No. 43(4)2021 and investigated by WPSI N. P. S. Marak.

The court found Latam guilty and pronounced the sentence on August 20, 2025.
