    SHILLONG: A joint meeting of the three ADCs – KHADC, JHADC and GHADC was held today at the conference hall of the KHADC in Shillong to discuss on the proposed amendment to the Sixth Schedule. 

    The meeting was chaired by KHADC deputy chief executive member Pyniaid Sing Syiem in presence of the KHADC chairman PN Syiem, JHADC EM Taxation Winning Sungoh and GHADC CEM Denang Sangma besides other MDCs of the three ADCs. 

    The meeting today was however inconclusive as the three ADCs have decided to soon hold a final meeting before submitting their joint representation to the state government. 

    PN Syiem, chairman of KHADC informed that the three ADCs have unanimously welcomed the proposal to include the district councils under Article 280 for direct funding. He said if necessary, the ADCs would also submit their joint representation to the Centre for its consideration.

    He said many issues were discussed which related to the number of seats, word municipal council and others but final decision will be taken on the next meeting to be held in the coming month.
