JNC pushes back over 40 illegal workers from East Jaintia Hills

Over 40 labourers were pushed back by the Jaintia National Council (JNC) after they were found working in a cement factory in East Jaintia Hills without any labour license.

These illegal migrant workers were detected during an inspection conducted by the employment commission of the JNC at Amrit Cement on Wednesday.

The inspection detected many workers were without proper licenses.

Consequently, under the leadership of its chairman  Ency Shadap and Secretary Mebanteilang Sukhlaiñ, the JNC-EC took action by pushing back as many as 40 such workers to their place of origin and issued a strong warning to the factories against hiring individuals from outside the state when local residents are available for such jobs. 

In a statement, General Secretary of the JNC-CEC, Wanshwa Suting emphasized that the Employment Commission’s efforts to check against illegal workers will also extend to other factories in the area. 

One of the key objectives of the Jaiñtia National Council’s Save Jaiñtia Mission is to urge the state government to implement policies that prioritize the employment of local residents, particularly in the factories situated in Jaiñtia Hills, he added.
