The NPP led Executive Committee in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) is still unaware over the bifurcation of Thadlaskein Community & Rural Development Block into Namdong Community & Rural Development Block & Thadlaskein Community & Rural Development Block.

This is evident from the official reply of JHADC Executive Member F Bareh to a query from TMC MDC of Jowai Central A Andrew Shullai during the Summer Session on Monday.

Shullai asked, “Is it a fact that Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council has claim that Khanduli Village in West Jaintia Hills falls under its jurisdiction?’

Bareh replied, “No, Sir, Khanduli Village is under the jurisdiction of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, Jowai. Khanduli Village is also falls under the Thadlaskein Block, West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya. Khanduli Village, Elaka Nongingi has its own Waheh Shnong recognized by the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, Jowai as per the Waheh Shnong Act 2015.”

The official reply from the Executive Committee of JHADC reflected their ignorance over the fact that Khanduli village is no longer under Thadlaskein Community & Rural Development Block after the inauguration of Namdong Community & Rural Development Block by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on November 21, last year.

Notably, during inauguration of Namdong Community & Rural Development Block, JHADC Chief Executive Member Thombor Shiwat was also present.
