    Though, the Interstate bus terminus (ISBT) Mawlai Mawiong, Shillong was constructed for parking buses but now it will be converted into a counting centre for the ensuing KHADC elections for Constituencies under East Khasi Hills District.

    The decision was taken in a meeting held on Monday in DC’s office, Shillong where R. Wahlang, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District chaired over the meeting and attended by representatives of various Political Parties.

    During the meeting, the Political Parties were informed of the operation of the model code of conductn or MCC will be from the date of notification of election by District Council Affairs Department and were requested to adhere to the code to the letter and spirit for the smooth conduct of election.

    The political parties were informed that the schedule for filing of nomination, Scrutiny and Withdrawal will be as fixed by the Meghalaya District Council Affairs Department or DCAD for the elections to the KHADC 2025. The venue for filing of nomination will be intimated.

    The political parties were informed that the Maintenance of expenditure by candidates will start from the day the candidate filed his/her nominations. The maximum limit of election expenses will be notified by the the DCAD.

    KHADC revenue receipts decreased by 49 per cent during 2017-18 and 2018-19

    The Political Parties were informed that Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT), Mawlai Mawiong, Shillong has been identified as the venue for Strong Room, Commissioning of EVMs, Issue & Receipt & Counting Hall.

    The candidates/Political Parties have been advised to visit permission cell at DC’s Office, Shillong. It is further advised that Whatsapp Nos. of Returning officers/Assistant Returning Officers will be shared to ensure seamless communication.

    A copy of the draft publication of electoral rolls were handed to all representatives of political parties in the meeting.
