    The Government of Meghalaya is inviting the civil society members to go through the recently announced ‘Mental health and social care policy-Meghalaya’ and give their comments and suggestions. On October 10, 2022, Meghalaya announced its “first-ever draft state mental health and social care policy”. The policy aims to promote overall mental health and well-being and facilitate appropriate access and care pathways for common and severe mental health concerns. The draft mental health policy has been materialized after extensive research, situational analysis and focused group discussions in the context of the State.

    The draft policy is being made available to the general public for their information and can be accessed through the following links: https://meghealth.gov.in/documents.html and http://nhmmeghalaya.nic.in/programmes/NMHP/nmhp.html for a period of 15 days. The draft policy has been put up in the public domain for the information of all, and also to fill some key missing elements within the policy document. The members of the civil society are urged to send in their comments pertaining to the draft policy.
