Interstate border peaceful, situation improving in Lapangap: Deputy CM

Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong has stated that the interstate border is generally peaceful, with specific efforts being made to improve the situation in Lapangap.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Tynsong said a temporary police camp has been set up in Lapangap with around 30 police personnel working 24/7 to maintain law and order.
Tynsong added that Assam has also deployed a similar number of personnel on their side of the border.
He expressed confidence that the situation is improving and that the Chief Minister will take up the issue with his Assam counterpart to further resolve any outstanding matters.

“Of course, the CM will take it up with his counterpart, the Assam CM. Not only that, telephonic discussion was there (between the two on the issue),” the deputy CM informed.
When asked about plans for setting up a permanent police camp, Tynsong said that the possibility of converting the temporary camp into a permanent one would be examined once the situation calms down and becomes conducive.
For now, the temporary camp is aimed at addressing the immediate security concerns in the area, he added.
