International Women’s Day celebration at New Hill, Jowai

This Monday, the Sein Kynthai Dorbar Chnong Loom-sooiung, from Jowai celebrated International Women’s Day by honouring two Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) of the community.

The ASHA women were felicitated for their hard work to the community in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and the event was addressed by Emidaka Gatphoh, Chairman along with Deimonki Tang, Secretary and E.F. Gatphoh, Adviser of the Sein Kynthai Dorbar Chnong Loom-sooiung.

The other speakers were the Headman- Marsan Pakma and Chief guest- Phidalia Toi. In her speech, the Chief Guest points out the origin of Women’s Day and the theme of the day being ‘Choose to Challenge’. She also mentioned the hardship of the women in India and how the community embraced the women of Jowai.

The Headman applauds the women of Sein Kynthai Dorbar Chnong Loom-sooiung for their contributions to the community. Further in the event, there were performances entertained by the women and youth of the community.
