    The Office of the District Health Society, National Health Mission, East Khasi Hills District on Thursday launched the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) – 2022 at the Community Hall, Jongksha Village. RM Kurbah, Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Government of Meghalaya attended the programme as the chief guest.

    Speaking as the chief guest, RM Kurbah stated that the aim of the programme is to bring down the mortality rate of children from diarrhoea and stressed on the importance of clean drinking water.

    Addressing the gathering, Dr EG Tariang Pajat, Addl. DMHO, East Khasi Hills District said that the objective of the fortnight is to intensify the prevention and control of diarrhoea especially among children, to create awareness about the usage of ORS and Zinc during diarrhoea in children between age group of one to five, to instruct heath workers in educating the community with regards to prevention and treatment. She also stressed on the importance of cleanliness.

    During the programme, ASHA workers under Jongksha PHC performed a skit on creating awareness on prevention of diarrhea. A demonstration on hand washing and usage of ORS was also presented.

    Others who spoke in the programme included Dr LM Challam, Director of Health Services (MCH&FW) cum Joint Director, NHM and Dr AK Nongbri Medical & Health Officer I/c  Jongksha PHC, East Khasi Hills.
