    In order to address the issue of waste management afflicting the people of Jowai Town, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai organized a one day Regional Seminar on ‘Waste Management in Jaintia Hills’ on Wednesday in the College Hall.

    The programme was attended by the Principal & teachers of different schools & Colleges of East & West Jaintia Hills, the Waheh Chnong of Jowai Localities, the Faculty Members of the College.

    The inaugural session was chaired by LE Langstang, IQAC Coordinator where a short speech was given by Dr. DG Lyngdoh, the Principal of the College.

    Elder BN Lamare Member Governing Body of Thomas Jones Synod College graced the programme as the Chief Guest and Dr. HH Mohrmen was the keynote speaker on the topic of the Seminar, C Bapui, Organising Secretary, Regional Seminar Committee delivered a Vote of thanks.

    The technical sessions was chaired by T Bareh, Librarian & MJ Lamare, Assistant Professor.

    Wa-i-sa Sumer, Assistant Lecturer of Political Science, Govt. Girl’s Higher Secondary School, Jowai & Research Scholar William Carey University, Shillong deliberated on the issue of Waste Management In Jaintia Hills.

    The topic “Geo-Politics of Waste: A Short Survey of Jowai Town” was pondered upon by Treemmi Lamare, Ph.D Scholar, Department of Political Science, NEHU, Shillong, Visiting Faculty Ches’ Star Higher Secondary School, Jowai, ICFAI University, Shillong & Kiang Nangbah Govt College, Jowai.

    Anisha Bakor Rymbui, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Studies, Ri War Jaintia College, Amlarem highlighted on topic of Waste Management in Jaintia Hills District.

    Kimberly Camelia S Langstieh & Kular Skhem Mukhim, Research Scholars, Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, NEHU, Shillong also touched on issue of Waste Management in Jaintia Hills District.

    Sniawbhalang Dkhar, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Studies, Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai & Achiles Rupert Pariat, Asst. Lecturer in Environmental Studies, Thomas Jones Synod College Jowai enlighted on topic of An investigation on the impacts of Improper Solid Waste Management on the Environment in particular to the Shopkeepers and Vendors. A Case Study of Iawmusiang market, Jowai. (Joint Paper).

    Certificates were distributed to the Paper Presenters and the Participants at the end of the session.
