    Sonam Raghuvanshi and her lover Raj Singh Kushwaha on Thursday were remanded to another two days police custody while the other three accused were sent to 14 days judicial custody.

    All accused involved in the murder of Indore businessman (L) Raja Raghuvanshi at Sohra were again produced before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) after the eight days police custody ended today. 

    “(As prayed) we have got two days police custody for Sonam and Raj while the other three accused persons – Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi – have been sent to 14 days judicial custody,” East Khasi Hills district police chief Vivek Syiem told reporters.

    “As and when our team arrives (from Indore) or we get more development from there, we will take custody of them (three accused) later,” he said.

    According to him, Sonam and Raj will again be produced before the court on Saturday.

    On Tuesday, the SIT had successful completed the reconstruction of the crime scene, which led to recovery of the second murder weapon from Weisawdong fall.

    The SIT had visited a number of places right from the parking lot at Mawlakhiat where they parked their rented two wheelers up to Weisawdong parking lot where the crime was committed.

    According to police, the accused persons had hacked Raja to death atop a parking lot near Weisawdong falls and dumped him in a nearby gorge in Sohra area on May 23.

    Asked, Syiem said, “Once we have done with the two days, we will do analysis investigation and then again if required we will take police custody.”

    He said the police team still have alot of work in Indore.

    “We have already done the questioning of Govind Raghuvanshi and Govind’s mother and today they have ascertain who the driver was, who took Sonam to Uttar Pradesh,” he added.

    The SP said that Sanjay Verma is just a fictitious name, which is actually registered in true caller but the number pertains to Raj Kushwaha himself.

    He revealed that the tally of calls between Raj and Sonam is huge.

    Further, Syiem informed that the police team are still looking for the second phone of Sonam.

    “We believing that the second phone is probably with jewelry and other items which Sonam has left behind.

    We were hoping that with the team goes there and the place was locked and the items of Sonam would be there but it appears that it has been shifted from there by somebody and the team are there to ascertain who has taken it and where are all these items,” he said.

    Regarding an instagram user, who had posted videos of Sonam and Raja, Syiem said, “We have reached out to him but he has not answered back to us. We have written to Instagram to give us details so that his statement can be recorded also.”

    To another query, the SP said alot of interrogation and questions being asked to get more facts so that “we get the complete picture”.
