Indore tourist murder case: 3 accused remanded for 6 days in police custody

A local court on Thursday remanded three persons, arrested for destruction of crucial evidence related to the murder of an Indore businessman, Raja Raghuvanshi, at Sohra, to six days police custody.
Superintendent of Police (City) Herbert Kharkongor, who is heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT), said that the three accused persons were brought to Shillong from Madhya Pradesh on a transit remand and were forwarded to court for production.
The three accused persons include Lokendra Singh Tomar, a resident of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and landlord of a flat at Dewas Naka where Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder case, had taken shelter while hiding in Indore. Tomar was arrested on Monday for destruction and concealment of vital evidence.
The other two accused persons are Silome James, a property dealer who rented out a flat to Vishal Singh Chauhan, one of the main accused in the case, and Balia Ahirwar, a security guard posted at the apartment complex where the flat is located. They were arrested on Sunday for destruction of evidence.
Kharkongor revealed that the accused persons had destroyed crucial evidence, including a bag containing a laptop and other materials, and had also burnt the bag. The police are now trying to recover the destroyed materials and investigate further.
The SP also stated that the pistol recovered from the accused persons is illegal and does not have a license registration. The police are also examining whether the pistol was used in the murder or if it was part of a larger plan.
The court has granted the police six days custody to interrogate the accused persons and gather more information about the case.
